I race with the Columbus (Ga.) Racing Pigeon Club. This club was
founded over 60 years ago. I was a member when I was a kid in the
late 60's. I rejoined in 2002. There are around 15 members now.
I have been blessed with great success. I won Bird of the Year,
Loft of the Year, and Average Speed in Young Birds for '03 and '04.
I won Bird of the Year, Loft of the Year, and Average Speed in Old
Birds '05. I've been on the long end up until now. Starting with
young birds '05 the club has voted to change directions. I will
now be on the short end. I guess time will tell if that will hurt
or help me.
I would like to thank Tony Melucci and Mike Ganus for all of there help and advice. I really want to thank them for getting me started right by allowing me to purchase some great breeders. "You have to have the blood". Without the blood you are wasting time and money.
There are lots of people to thank for getting me off on the right foot. Thank you, Billy Boone for helping me achieve success right out of the gates. You are truly a good friend. This is a great sport with many very nice and helpful people. I have made new friends all over the US and in Europe. My son, Will and I went to Europe in the fall of 2003. We meet many nice fanciers. We got lots of ideas for our loft and saw many very nice birds. It was a wonderful trip. "Always steal with your eyes and your ears". It's amazing what you can learn if you just keep paying attention. Thanks for you time and may God bless, Stewart Harvard
